About This Aarti
The Jay Adhyashakti aarti is sung in Gujarati at the beginning of every Navratri Garba night - before a single step of dance is taken. It is a complete prayer to the Adi Shakti (the primordial power, the original creative force of the universe). The aarti praises her as the source of Brahma's wisdom, Vishnu's power, and Shiva's devotion - the goddess who sustains all three cosmic functions.
When sung by thousands of voices together, with hundreds of diyas raised in offering and the sacred Garbo burning at the centre - this aarti creates a collective spiritual experience that is difficult to describe and impossible to forget.

How the Aarti is Performed
Face the Goddess
All participants face the central image of the goddess or the burning Garbo. The circle is still - this is not yet Garba. Everyone stands, hands folded or holding a diya.
Raise the Diyas
As the aarti begins, those holding diyas (lamps) raise them and move them in slow circles before the goddess in the traditional aarti gesture. Everyone else sings.
Sing Together
The aarti is sung in call-and-response - a lead singer or group begins each verse, and the entire gathering responds with the refrain "Jay Adhyashakti Maa." The sound builds with each verse.
Ring Bells
Throughout the aarti, bells (ghanta) are rung at regular intervals. In large events, the sound of hundreds of bells together creates an extraordinary resonance.
Bow and Begin
After the final verse, everyone bows (pranaam) to the goddess. Then - and only then - the Garba circle forms and the dancing begins. The aarti is the key that opens the sacred space.
जय आद्यशक्ति - गरबे की महाआरती
"जय आद्यशक्ति" आरती गरबे की नींव है। बिना इस आरती के कोई भी गरबा शुरू नहीं होता। यह आरती गुजराती भाषा में है और देवी के सम्पूर्ण स्वरूप की स्तुति करती है - ब्रह्मा को ज्ञान देने वाली, विष्णु की शक्ति, महेश की भक्ति, महिषासुर मर्दिनी, सर्व सिद्धिदात्री।
हजारों लोगों के कंठ से एक साथ गाई जाने वाली यह आरती, उठाए हुए दीपों की रोशनी में, एक ऐसा सामूहिक भक्ति अनुभव बनाती है जो जीवन में कभी नहीं भूलता। यह केवल एक आरती नहीं है - यह देवी की उपस्थिति का आह्वान है।
